Exploring Bangkok
Well, it's the last day that Meredith and Anne will be with us on our journeys – they head home late this evening. So, let's make the most of it!
First stop after breakfast was the Grand Palace in Bangkok. Stunning Thai architecture. Beautiful statues and grounds. Extremely crowded and extremely hot – especially in the clothes we had to rent to cover up our legs and shoulders. So many tourists. But very glad we made the trek and committed to seeing the whole complex. This has been the official royal residence since 1782 and is one of the most visited tourist sights in all of Thailand. Stunning stuff.
We then headed to Wat Pho – The Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Talk about massive! Loved what we saw here and it was very peaceful – mind the work on mister buddha's feet!
We then explored the nearby grounds of Wat Pho and some of the Thai architecture that was happening here. Again, unique and beautiful things abound.
We had had enough of tourists – and certainly of heat – so we headed to the Siam Center. EXCELLENT shopping and home to mostly all local Thai designers. We all picked up a little something to remember our time here in Bangkok. I got a funky shirt by a Thai designer. The girls picked up some outfits and shoes. Tim walked out with some bath salts. Success!
We had a simple bite at one of the food courts there – the AC was too good to pass up. Then it was back to Chinatown, to the hotel for the girls to pack up and head to the airport for their flight.
Went all too fast. That just means it was all too good.
We'll miss you ladies!!!
Safe travels you two. See you stateside!
